About Us
SASH is a program where students from different grades in Northampton Public Schools can come together to create a community. Our goal is to educate kids on how to deal with overwhelming feelings as well as the importance and validity of speaking up or asking for help. SASH kids are also taught to discuss their feelings, and we strive to provide an outlet for them to do so. By teaching the kids the art of their choice, we give them a space to express the way they feel. whether they write a song, create an art project, write a story or choreograph a dance, they are having fun while talking about larger issues and creating a community that they can depend on.
“SASH is a place where I can do what I love and make a safe space for others. It’s a beautiful environment we’ve created. SASH is the way I make a difference in the world and a huge learning experience for me. It has helped improve my overall being. SASH has helped me remember what it’s like to be a young kid and what that was like so I can best help them and relate to them with my own experiences. It’s also reminded me that I’m still a kid and that it feels good to help, from one kid to another.”
